Background
Actin-related protein 2 is known to be a ATP-binding constituent of the ARP2/3 complex. This complex is located at the cell surface and is essential to cell shape and involves in regulation of actin polymerization and together with an activating nucleation-promoting factor (NPF) mediates the formation of branched actin networks. Actin-related protein 2 seems to contact the pointed end of the daughter actin filament.
